With cuts going on in education every day, teachers have to become more creative when it comes to decorating classrooms to create an enriching environment. Most of the supplies that are in a classroom have come out of the teachers’ pockets. But there is only so much money a teacher can spend. The problem becomes what to buy that best suits the needs of the students at the least amount of cost to the teacher.
Every year teachers get a new class, with new students. Usually the teacher finds different ways to identify each student both outside the classroom, and on the desks. These will change every year, and it is always good to make it engaging and fun. There are a few things that a teacher can do that will make the year start out with a bang, and keep the kids organized.
Custom sticker printing can be a lifesaver. A teacher could create stickers that would be on the students’ desk, and then put on their school agendas, notebooks, binders, and just about anything else in the classroom. Plus the students will love to have stickers with their names on it. Custom sticker printing can be affordable, but most important; it will allow the student to be organized as well. This inexpensive, but fun way to welcome the students can be fun.
As far as the classroom door goes, it is always good to have the students’ names on it in a creative way. A teacher could design and order a poster for the door. The students’ names could be all over it, and be filled with words that will describe the things they can expect in the classroom. For example, the poster could have the names intermingled with words like respect, love of reading, teamwork, taking responsibility and other positive motivation words. The teacher could also order a copy of the poster for each student to take home, so they will be reminded of the classroom expectations when they are home as well.
Partway through the year, the teacher could start a new activity with the students. They could, as a group design a class logo. Everyone can say what they think is important to have in the logo. Once they have the logo designed, they could all sign their names around it and the school logo and name, and have these custom logo stickers printed up. The students’ would all get a few, and be able to do whatever they want with them. On the flipside, the teacher can create a wall of history with the custom logo stickers that each class she has had designed. The students will be able to see something they created published professionally. Plus, the stickers and poster will be a nice way to remember each class when they move on to the next teacher.
The class can also use the project as a way to make money for a special class celebration. They could do a few different projects throughout the year where they create stickers, or mouse pads, or key chains. Then they can sell them to parents and friends and be able to use the money for something special for the class at the end of the year.
